Slightly late update but there was another YCE event in Beijing last december. Levy Qiu, Creative Director of Beijing Yeelink Interactive Technology Ltd, a finalist of IYIE (International Young Interactive Entrepreneur) 2010 has sent us a message about the event.

At the party on late December last year, I strongly felt the sparkle of creative ideas when a bunch of passionate people get together. I can’t imagine that I could meet Anup(winner of IYIE award 2010) again in such a short period of time. Even though we are from different culture background, we have a same opinion on interactive field. During his stays in Beijing, we have exchanged many thoughts on the course of building our own career and we both are very much looking forwards to the future. Our conversation reminded me the inspiring experience I had in UK and also I miss 10 other colleagues very much.

At the party, we presented our project and objectives to the guests and mentioned other young entrepreneurs as well. We also talked about our feelings about things we have seen in UK. Everything was much better than I expected. It is such a great platform UK embassy provided for us. I really hope I would meet other colleagues in the near future and I believe we will have so much to talk about by the time we meet.    – Levy Qiu from China

I am the co-founder and Director of Games at Mediatonic, an independent games developer based in Central London.

At the start of this year I was surprised and delighted to be chosen as the winner of the Young Interactive Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

As part of the application process I had the opportunity to go on a fascinating market tour of India and since the start of the year I’ve been attending the monthly meetings and YCE talks which have given me lots of insight into the creative industries both in the UK and globally.

As such I was very excited recently when I was invited to China with Jeremiah, a fellow YCE, to give several talks to coincide with the launch of the first ever Young Interactive Entrepreneur award in China.

My third and final full day in the UAE with the YCE programme was all about focusing down on being an entrepreneur and kicked off with a business breakfast at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprises.  It was a good turnout and I was joined by Soniya Kripalani, a filmmaker and digital media specialist, whose film DO BUY – THE FABRIC OF FAITH was being screened that night as part of the final panel discussion.

I screened THE SPACE YOU LEAVE to the audience, as well as the trailer for THE PEOPLE VS. GEORGE LUCAS which are films at two ends of the spectrum in the documentary world, but I hope a good way of illustrating the variety of what can be done if you work with a range of creative people.
